My Review of the Dyson DC33 Vacuum
As a person that loves to do research and write reviews, I decided to learn a
bit more about those vacuum cleaners that we all find a need for in our lives. I have spent many years using
vacuum cleaners and have often wondered about the differences between models and prices. For me, purchasing a
vacuum has always been a decision based solely on budget.
It turns out that there is much more to vacuum shopping than the price tag. There are key factors that should be
considered when you look at which vacuum is the best one to meet your needs. As I began to look at those factors
and explore vacuums more in depth, I came across the Dyson DC33 model.
What Sets a Vacuum Apart
There is more that separates a vacuum from its competition than the price tag. There are several factors that
play a role in the performance of the vacuum and how well it will meet the needs that you have.
• Suction
• Canister/Bag
• Filter
• Weight
• Attachments
• Cord Length
All of these factors work together in the vacuum to provide the experience that you will receive. Simply
purchasing the lowest cost model that you find may not provide the results that you desire. So how does the Dyson
DC33 measure up? Let’s take a look and see.
Suction Is Top Priority
When it comes to a vacuum nothing is more important than the suction power. You want to know that the vacuum you
have purchased will pick up the dirt, pet hair and other particles from your floor. The Dyson DC33 has 240 watts of
constant air suction power. Some vacuums will lose suction power as you continue to clean with them. This does not
happen with the Dyson thanks to the Root Cyclone technology. It is also a multi-floor vacuum which means that this
suction works on all flooring types and eliminates the need to sweep floors that are not carpeted.
It Is All In the Bag
One consideration to look at when purchasing a vacuum is the bag that it uses. Models that use bags require that
they be changed regularly. Not only does this make emptying the vacuum a cumbersome chore, it adds a regular
expense to the upkeep of your vacuum and your home.
Like many modern models the Dyson DC33 is a bagless vacuum. This means that as long as you own this vacuum there
will be no bag to purchase or replace. Over the lifetime of the vacuum this can save you a substantial amount of
money.
In addition, the canister is simple to empty and clean. It requires only one hand and the press of a button to
empty the contents of the canister into the garbage.
Filter the Air
Many of the modern vacuums come with a HEPA filter that will trap allergens and pollen to help clear the air for
those who suffer from allergies. This often requires the purchase of a new filter and changing out the old one on a
regular basis. The Dyson DC33 takes it to a different level with a washable lifetime HEPA filter. Instead of having
to replace the filter, you simply need to take it out, wash it and replace it. Doing so is as simple as replacing
the filter on a different model.
How Heavy Is It?
The weight of the vacuum makes a big difference in the experience you will have with it. This is especially true
if you have to vacuum areas such as stairs. Often, the more powerful vacuum that you purchase the heavier it will
be to carry around. The Dyson DC33 is actually a lightweight model considering the suction power that it offers. At
only 17.6 lbs it is quite simple to carry up and down stairs so that you can tackle any job in the home.
Will It Reach?
Another factor you want to consider when you purchase a vacuum is whether or not you will be able to reach those
spots that do not sit right on the floor. This is often where the attachments come into play. The Dyson DC33 comes
with a wand that expands to 15.7 feet, allowing you to reach virtually anywhere that you need to vacuum.
How Long is the Cord?
Nothing is quite as frustrating when you are trying to vacuum as having to constantly plug in the vacuum to a
new, closer outlet. The Dyson DC33 comes with a 35 ft cord that allows you to maneuver around a much larger space
without having to unplug and start over.
How Much Should It Cost?
You can buy the Dyson DC33 on the website for $400 and on other retail sites for more than that, but there is no
need to pay that much for one. Amazon has them in stock at prices as low as $345.
What Comes With It?
When you purchase the Dyson DC33 you will get the vacuum and the lifetime washable HEPA filter. It also comes
with the wand and combination accessory tool and stair tool. You will also get an operating manual, quick start
guide and product registration card.
Is there a Warranty?
Dyson offers a five year warranty on the Dyson DC33 vacuum.
What Do Others Have to Say?
When you look at reviews on Amazon the average review is four out of five stars for the Dyson DC33. Customers
are very pleased with the vacuum and praise the suction and its ease of use. A few of the comments that stand out
are:
• “Great Vacuum!”
• “Dyson Picked it All Up”
• “Amazing”
• “You Don’t realize how much your old machine was missing”
• “Very pleased”
Did Anyone Complain?
In the reviews there were a few complaints. Some say the vacuum made a loud noise. Others claimed the suction
was too powerful and pulled on their carpets and rugs. A few found the wand to be difficult to use at a great
distance.
Where Can You Get It?
The Dyson DC33 is available at a number of retailers online, but the best price by far was found at Amazon. It
is also available through the Dyson website.
Where Can You Read Reviews?
There are reviews on most retail websites including Kohls, Best Buy and the Dyson website of the Dyson DC33. If you want to read through a comprehensive list of reviews a great place to check is
on Amazon.
